Becoming a board member is one of the most challenging and rewarding volunteer assignments. At Yate FM we want all of our board members to feel that their commitment of time, skill, and resources is valued and worthwhile.

We hope that the information provided below will help you to make the decision to become a board member.

Our Mission Statement: To reach out to all of the diverse groups in the community to give people a voice, enable talent to develop, provide training opportunities, access to equipment and to nurture a sense of inclusion.

The project board will contain up to 7 individuals who represent the different interests of the group, including:
- Marketing and communication
- Finance / business management
- Legal / business management
- Networking and community development
- Fundraising / applying for grants
- Website and Design
- Broadcasting

The board, chosen for their skills, experience and knowledge would take responsibility for all financial, managerial and day-to-day business. The legal ownership rests with the board.

Board Member Job Description
1. Regularly attends board meetings and important related meetings.
2. Makes serious commitment to participate actively in committee work
3. Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time.
4. Stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
5. Gets to know other committee members and builds a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.
6. Is an active participant in the committee\'s annual evaluation and planning efforts.
7. Participates in fund raising for the organisation.
