The exhibition is open to the public during library opening hours (closed Wednesdays) from 6th February until the 27th February 2010, Yate Library, 44 West Walk, Yate BS37 4AX
The main objective of this exhibition is to get across a better understanding of Poland, its place in history and how Poles entered the community of Bristol and the West Country after World War 2 and since Poland became part of the European Union.
This visual exhibition shows a variety of themes from a short history of Poland, the Poles' contribution to the War and the lives of Poles who settled in the West Country.
The exhibition is of special interest to schools as WW2 is on the national curriculum, so there is the opportunity for children to get a greater understanding of Poland in a historical context as well as from a community viewpoint as many children now have Polish classmates.
Lady Trotman-Dickenson (Danusia) - Trustee of the Anglo Polish Society said "We have created this exhibition to show some of Poland's history along with the Polish contribution to the community in both Bristol and the South West. Also we want people to gain a greater understanding of Polish culture as we now have many Poles living in this country."
Admission is free.
