Your local Safer Stronger Community Group needs you!
South Gloucestershire's 20 Safer Stronger Community Groups are all about working together to improve your local community. The groups also enable you to have your say about the services that your community receives.
These groups have been set up as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Model and South Gloucestershire Council's Community Engagement initiative. Their members include people who live and work in the area and representatives from the local police, Avon Fire & Rescue, Primary Care Trust, South Gloucestershire Council, the Town & Parish Council and other local organisations. The aim is to:
  • work together to ensure that local communities are safe and pleasant places to live, work and play
  • give local people a greater voice and influence over local decisions and the priorities of the service providers
  • fund and support a number of initiatives that help the local community, such as shop-radio schemes, CCTV, Community Speedwatch, young people's and older people's projects, and community engagement projects

Have a say in local health and social care.
The LINk will be a network of local people, organisations and groups that want to make health and social care services better.
The LINk’s membership is small at the moment and urgently needs people from the local community who feel strongly about local health and social care services.

South Gloucestershire Voluntary Sector Forum
The Voluntary Sector Forum is one network that every voluntary, community or social enterprise group or organization in South Gloucestershire can join regardless of community, interest or location.
It will meet regularly to share information about key issues that concern us all and work together to develop a constructive response.
It will strengthen the links between voluntary sector representatives and the groups they represent, provide a focus for consultations with statutory bodies, facilitate the two-way flow of information between the voluntary sector and the statutory sector, and provide an opportunity for voluntary sector organisations to meet, discuss, share expertise and decide on how to progress on key issues.
For more information, contact Gillian Graham on 01454 865205.
