We encourage visits by individuals and groups to and from linked towns and the development of personal contacts. By doing so we aim to broaden mutual understanding of the cultural, recreational, educational and commercial activities of the linked towns.

It will meet regularly to share information about key issues that concern us all and work together to develop a constructive response.
It will strengthen the links between voluntary sector representatives and the groups they represent, provide a focus for consultations with statutory bodies, facilitate the two-way flow of information between the voluntary sector and the statutory sector, and provide an opportunity for voluntary sector organisations to meet, discuss, share expertise and decide on how to progress on key issues.

These groups have been set up as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Model and South Gloucestershire Council's Community Engagement initiative. Their members include people who live and work in the area and representatives from the local police, Avon Fire & Rescue, Primary Care Trust, South Gloucestershire Council, the Town & Parish Council and other local organisations. The aim is to:
- work together to ensure that local communities are safe and pleasant places to live, work and play
- give local people a greater voice and influence over local decisions and the priorities of the service providers
- fund and support a number of initiatives that help the local community, such as shop-radio schemes, CCTV, Community Speedwatch, young people's and older people's projects, and community engagement projects

These meetings offer the chance to have your say on the key issues affecting your neighbourhood. At the end of each meeting attendees vote for the issue they feel is of the greatest importance and the top three are then actioned by the most relevant local authority.

A free one day course is open to anyone who is living or working with members of the public within South Gloucestershire.
Contents will include:
A definition and background statistics in relation to hate crime and hate incidents.
Identifying hate crime/incidents.
Responding to people experiencing hate crime/hate incidents.
Information on current hate crime/incidents initiatives in South Gloucestershire. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Training will be delivered by members of the South Gloucestershire Partnership Against Hate Crime (PAHC).
