There is a small annual charge to pay and you may have to put your name on a waiting list. There is more information on the application form.

Currently the annual charge for hiring a locker is £14 a year and the deposit for the key is £10.

Extra Train Carriages

First Great Western have sourced extra carriages for Bristol suburban journeys, which were brought into service from the December 2011 timetable.

These extra seats will be further boosted early in 2012 when new carriages are added to London services.

FGW say this is excellent news for customers and will help to cater for the considerable growth in rail travel to and from Bristol.

A Blooming Good Time at Yate Station

Following the inaugural meeting of the Yate in Bloom group it was agreed that Yate Station would form part of the competition.

It was felt that the area to the rear of the Gloucester bound platform gave visitors to the town a poor impression and if this area could be cleared and flower beds built it would have a large impact on the welcome visitors receive to Yate.

Yate Station - before

Severnside Community Rail Partnership has sought the appropriate authorities for clearance of the land and during the summer months will start work with the Avon & Somerset Probation Service and South Gloucestershire Council to clear this area of the overgrown vegetation.

Once the initial hard work of clearing the area has been undertaken and the flower beds built the Partnership would be very interested to hear from volunteers who would be willing to maintain the flower beds.

If you would like to get involved, please email Heather Cullimore at Severnside Community Rail Partnership:
